Four people were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Mymensingh's Tarakanda on Thursday.
The accident occurred at around 7:30 am at Gachtala of the upazila on the Mymensingh-Netrakona regional road.
The dead were identified as Bidya Mia, 42, hailed from Bahadurpur village in Netrokona, and Lovely Akter, 18, wife of Rafiqul Islam of the same village. They were passengers of the auto-rickshaw. The identities of the other two deceased were not known.
Police said, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was heading towards Netrakona from Mymensingh with passengers. When the auto-rickshaw reached that area, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with it. Two of the three wheeler died on the spot and four more were injured.
The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital with injuries where two were declared dead.
Tarakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tipu Sultan confirmed the news.
