A total of 20 gold bars, weighing 2.33 kilogram, were seized from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on Wednesday.
Engineer Md Ibrahim Khalil, spokesperson for the airport, said that National Security Intelligence (NSI), the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID), and security personnel of the airport seized the gold bars, worth Tk 2.60 crore, from BG 148, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight that arrived from Dubai at around 9:25AM.
He said that the gold bars, wrapped with black tape, were hidden under seat 9J of the aircraft. However, no one was arrested in this connection. They suspected that the gold bars might have been smuggled from Dubai, he added.
A case will be filed in this connection with Patenga Police Station, said Khalil.
