BADC, Ma'aden sign agreement for DAP fertiliser

Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) has signed an agreement with Saudi Arabian company Ma'aden to import 12 lakh metric tons of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) fertiliser over the next two years.

This agreement was signed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia recently, says a press release.  BADC Chairman (Grade-1) Md Ruhul Amin Khan and a representative from the Ma'aden Group signed the agreement.
The Bangladesh government, through BADC, has been importing fertilisers from different countries to ensure a stable supply of non-urea fertilisers and timely distribution to farmers.

As a continuation of this effort, a deal has been signed with the Saudi Arabian company Ma'aden to import 6 lakh metric tons of DAP fertiliser each in 2025 and 2026.

The Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, and other relevant representatives were present during the signing. The Ministry of Agriculture will take all necessary steps through BADC to ensure that DAP fertiliser is delivered correctly, as specified in the agreement.

This will ensure that there is no shortage of DAP fertiliser in the country and that farmers can get a timely supply. It is noteworthy that through negotiations before signing this agreement, the government will save 29 crore taka in revenue compared to the previous year's agreement.
