Jatiya Nagorik Committee's chief organizer and July Shaheed Smrity Foundation's general secretary Sarjis Alam has said the Jatiya Nagorik Committee will not be a political party. It will also not be like a registered political party. But, Jatiya Nagorik Committee will appear as a political force. There are huge differences between these two entities.
"For example, a political party is floated through registration, takes part in politics directly, and then joins elections. But, a political force will create leadership for tomorrow's Bangladesh. It may be political leadership, organizational leadership, or volunteering leadership," he said.
Sarjis Alam made the remarks in response to the queries of the representatives of Jatiya Nagorik Committee coming from different upazilas at 'Panchagarh Rising' function organized by Jatiya Nagorik Committee at Panchagarh Government Auditorium Hall Room on Friday (December 27) afternoon.
According to Sarjis Alam, "Bangladesh needs leaders in every field.
Jatiya Nagorik Committee will work as a platform for developing
leadership. Besides, it will work as a pressure group."
He said, "Whoever comes to power in the future Bangladesh, the Jatiya Nagorik Committee will work as a pressure-creating group for accountability. It will also work to create leadership in future Bangladesh."
He said, "In the past 16 years, Sheikh Hasina has shown progress in Bangladesh through some infrastructure. But within that, she has done as many wrongdoings as possible."
Regarding the formation of new political parties, Sarjis Alam said, "Multiple political parties will be floated in Bangladesh within the next two months. One or more political parties will appear. Those who led the mass uprising, they may float the new political parties. If any individual from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement wants to join that political parties, he or she must have to leave his/her post in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement."
