SUNAMGANJ, Dec 27: A youth was allegedly hacked to death by miscreants in Dowarabazar Upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The incident happened at around 10pm in a bridge at Sunatta Village under Narsingpur Union in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Hasan Ali, 30, son of Md Nowab Ali, a resident of the area.
It was learnt that deceased Hasan Ali gave a phone to Hossain Ahmed for repairing some days back. But, Hossain could not complete his work. On Thursday night, the two were engaged in an altercation centring this incident. Following this, the phone was taken from Hossain and given to another shop for repairing it.
Later on, at around 10pm, Hasan Ali was hacked by some miscreants in the area, in which he was critically injured.
He was rescued and taken to Dowarabazar Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
On information, police visited the body, said Jahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Dowarabazar Police Station.
