Martial Artist Jamila eyes Guinness World Records

Jamila Khatun, the 48-year-old Martial Artist from Bangladesh, had won gold medals in three continents, Asia, Europe, and America. Now, she is looking forward to writing her name in the Guinness World Records, a renowned reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

The 90-kg Bangladesh athlete said, "I believe I will be able to achieve the honour of being mentioned on the Guinness World Records if I get the necessary support from the National Sports Council (NSC) and my team Bangladesh Ansar.
 
Jamila, a mother of two, is a commendable athlete in Bangladesh's Ju-jitsu arena. She is the fourth of six siblings. She was born at the Kabutarkhola village in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj. She was interested in different martial arts from her childhood. She started her career as an athlete in 1990 and started practising Judo at the age of 16. Although her training in martial arts started with Karate, she later trained herself at wushu, Pencak silat and Ju-jitsu and won various medals including gold in several national and international competitions in these games.
 
So far, he has won 37 gold, 27 silver and 32 bronze medals. As an Ansar athlete, she won 28 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze medals in Karate, Judo, Wushu, and Wrestling. Jamila touched a new milestone in her career after winning gold medals in Ju-jitsu and Pencak silat on three continents. 

In February 2024, she won a bronze medal in the +70 kg contact fight in the Asian Jujutsu held in Thailand. She won two more bronze medals in the 70 kg open category of the T-5 Liberty Chalice International Pencak Silat Championship in Colorado, USA in September. In November, Jamila won gold in the 70kg category at the World Ju-jitsu Championships in Heraklion, Greece. 
She is holding the third place in the World Ju-jitsu ranking. 

She won the President Ansar (Service) Medal of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) in 2018 for her contribution to the sporting arena and bring honour to the service team. 

Jamila said, "My weight could not hold me back. Sports give me pleasure and I want to continue my game till I am 50."
