5 killed on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, 3 in Pabna, 2 in Dinajpur

At least 10  people were killed including five at Dhaleshwari toll plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway and dozen other were injured in separate road accidents in Keraniganj, Pabna and Dinajpur. 

In Keraniganj, at least five people were killed and ten others were injured after a bus crushed a car, ran over a motorcycle and rear-ended a microbus at the Dhaleshwari toll plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway in Keraniganj on Friday morning. Dewan Azad, an official from Sreenagar fire service station, has acknowledged the incident and the death toll.
CCTV camera footage from the toll plaza showed that the motorcycle, the microbus and the car had just arrived at the toll plaza and were in the queue when the bus of 'Bepari Paribahan' rammed a Mawa-bound car from behind, crushing it completely at 11:06am on Friday. Then the bus rear-ended the microbus and ran over the motorcycle, crushing it as well.

One of the passengers of the car was killed on the spot. The other four succumbed to injuries on their way to hospital in Dhaka, said the fire service official, adding that the death toll may rise.

Our Pabna Correspondent reports three people were killed and three others injured when a truck hit a three-wheeler human hauler at Rangamatia in Shanthia upazila in Pabna  on Friday. 

The deceased were Khokon Hossain, 27, Dhoni Pramanik, 50, and Russel Hossain, 27, of the village Rangamatia.

Our Dinajpur Correspondent writes a young couple was killed in a road accident at Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur district on Friday afternoon. The accident occurred on the Parbatipur-Rangpur Highway near Jhaller Mor around 1:30pm. 

The deceased were identified as Tanvir Islam Mohon, 25, a resident of Kismat Kamarpukur village at Syedpur upazila in Nilphamari and his wife Tajmin Akter, 19, daughter of Momtaj Ali from Dangapara village in Nilphamari Sadar Upazila.

According to police and locals, a motorbike carrying the couple collided head-on with a egg-laden covered van coming from Rangpur.  Tanvir, the motorbike driver, died on the spot while Tajmin sustained critical injuries. 

Despite being rushed to a local hospital with the help of firefighters and locals, Tajmin succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.   Later, the covered van involved in the collision was seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene.
 
Parbatipur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Salam confirmed the incident and stated that further investigations are ongoing.
