A Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatradal (JCD) activist was killed in a road accident at Lohagara upazila in Chittagong district on Friday night.
He died at Chittagong Medical College Hospital at around 7:00 PM while undergoing treatment.
The deceased was identified as Md Mahim, 18, son of Nurul Islam, a resident of Rajghata area under Amirabad union in the upazila.
Earlier, at around 3:30 PM on Friday, Mahim, along with his two nieces, was heading towards Lohagara. Then, their motorcycle collided head-on with a covered van on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway, leaving the motorcycle passengers critically injured.
Locals rescued them and took them to the upazila health complex. Later, they were transferred to CMCH for better treatment, where Mahim succumbed to his injuries.
Suva Ranjan Chakma, officer-in-charge of Dohazari Highway Police Station, said that the covered van has been seized in connection with this incident.
Legal procedures are underway in this regard, the OC added.
