Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday called for the unity of all anti-fascist political parties to build a 'new Bangladesh' inspired by the hopes and aspirations of the youth.

Speaking at the 12th General Council of Khilafat Majlis at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital he said, "We have to build a collective action to ensure our democratic future."

Shafiqur said, "Bangladesh will move forward according to the aspirations of the youth who participated in the liberation war of 2024."

He said that no conspiracy will work if all Islamic parties are united.

"Future Bangladesh will continue according to the aspirations of the youth who participated in the 24th Liberation War. All anti-fascist political parties will be united in new Bangladesh," said Shafiqur.

He said, "We want to cooperate from behind to build a prosperous Bangladesh and so that no one can break our unity, we have to be aware."

Ameer of Jamaat said,  "During the period of Awami League, Tk 26.5 lakh crore was smuggled abroad. Awami League has insulted and tortured to the national leaders and Ulamas."

He said, "After the revolution, the Islamic groups acted as watchmen. The security system in the country should be such that if mosques are not guarded, temples should not be guarded either. Everyone will follow their own religion."

Shafiqur said in the last decade and a half, the Muslim scholars of the country have been subjected to the most unfair outrage in the history of country. Thousands of Ulamas have been jailed on false charges and killed Quran-e-Hafiz.

"People of the country will not forget the memory of Shapla Chattar," said Shafiqur Rahman.

He said, "In 2009, Awami League started its journey by killing 57 army officers two months after coming to power. Then they started tortured on Jamaat-e-Islam."

"They killed 11 of us. In this way, the clerics were insulted so much that there is no end to it. Awami League has oppressed thousands of people of this country," Shafiqur added.

Meanwhile, Dr Shafiqur Rahman said the interim government has not ensured proper treatment for the injured heroes of July-August movement.

Speaking at a prgramme, "Commemoration of the Injured and Crippled in the July-August Movement, Inspiring Mass Uprising-24" organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka Metropolitan South at a city hotel he said, "When we visited the families of injured heroes of July-August movement, they said, no other party or even the government has not played the role that Jamaat has played for them."

He said, "Jamaat does not want to make these heroes party assets. We believe, that all the martyred and injured heroes of the movement are our national wealth."

Shafiqur Rahman said that if we get the responsibility to run the state, the first priority will be to build an educated nation, because without education we cannot build the backbone of our nation.

"Awami League government destroyed the country's education system and created juvenile gangs, extortionists and terrorists. Education that does not humanize and idealize people can never be considering education," he said.

Shafiqur Rahman said, "Through the media, the nation is getting to know that Sheikh Hasina has called the heads of the three forces to Ganabhaban and instructed them to kill as many people as necessary to keep her in state power."

"Only when people lose their humanity can give such instructions. The power of one person or one party was the key reason to mass killing in July-August movement," he said.

Shafiqur Rahman said, "Jamaate-e-Islami does not believe in the power of one person or one party. Jamaat-e-Islami wants to form a government with all the pro-democracy parties. Where no single person or group will have power and influence."

"If such a government is formed, the nation will be able to truly enjoy freedom. A citizen will get the dignity and rights he deserves," he said.

Member of the central executive council of Jamaat and the Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South Nurul Islam Bulbul presided over the programme, member of the central working council and the Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South Dr Central Assistant Secretary Maulana Abdul Halim spoke among others.

In the opening speech Nurul Islam Bulbul said Jamaat has been able to fulfill some responsibility by providing medical assistance to the injured and crippled in the July-August revolution and financial support of Tk 2 lakh to the families of the martyrs.
