5 killed as bus hits autorickshaw in Sherpur

Five people were killed and two others injured after a passenger bus smashed an autorickshaw in Sherpur's Sadar upazila.

The accident happened at about 11:45AM on the Sherpur-Mymensing road.

One of the deceased was identified as CNG driver Lokman Akmal, 45, a resident of Kamari area of Sherpur Sadar upazila.

A bus belonging to 'Rifat Paribahan' hit a CNG-run autorickshaw at Bhatshala area, leaving five dead on the spot and two injured. They were taken to a private hospital.

The condition of the injured are also critical, it was learnt.

Sherpur Sadar Police Station OC Jobaidul Alam said the vehicular movement on the highway remained suspended for around one hour due to the accident.
