Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has urged Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) to play a transformative role in Bangladesh's development by investing their expertise, resources, and networks in key sectors of the nation's economy.
Speaking at "NRB Conclave" held at the Foreign Service Academy, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between the interim government, local enterprises and the global diaspora to drive innovation and sustainable growth.
"By partnering with the government and local businesses, NRBs can tap into the vast potential of one of the world's fastest-growing economies," Hossain said. The event, organized under the theme *"Transforming Bangladesh through Knowledge Remittance,"* brought together members of the Bangladesh Brand Forum and prominent NRBs.
Highlighting the interim government's priorities, Hossain reiterated its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and fostering innovation. He urged NRBs with expertise in technology to facilitate knowledge transfer, support local startups, and advocate for the establishment of tech incubators and research centers that can propel homegrown solutions.
"The story of Bangladesh is one of resilience and innovation. However, the global perception often does not align with this reality. It is time for us to reshape the narrative, and NRBs, as credible ambassadors, are key to achieving this," Hossain said.
He also addressed challenges faced by the interim government, particularly a misinformation campaign in parts of the regional media, which he described as "based on falsehoods." He called on NRBs to counter these narratives by advocating the truth about Bangladesh's progress and potential.
"Together, we can build a prosperous, inclusive, and globally respected Bangladesh. The world is watching, and the future is calling," the adviser concluded.
