Vehicular movement in Dhaka Cantonment area remained suspended for nearly three hours on Sunday as a group of dismissed army personnel staged a sit-in in front of Jahangir Gate, demanding the reinstatement of  jobs.

The protesters under the banner of 'Sohojoddha,' a platform for former armed forces officials, took to the street around 11:00am, disrupting traffic movement. They drew the attention of the senior officials and chanted slogan "We want justice."

Their demands included reinstatement of jobs with full salaries, allowances and associated benefits.

Besides, they demanded inclusion in the pension system with all government facilities if reinstatement is not possible.

The protesters warned of further protests if their demands are not met within five working days.

The protest ended around 2:00pm after senior officials from the Bangladesh Army assured them that their demands would be considered.
