The Election Commission (EC) will start a door-to-door voter list update campaign on January 20 next, according to an EC official on Monday.
The campaign likely to begin from the second half of January 2025 and in this regard the preparations are already underway, said EC Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz.
He said that the training for trainers will be completed by January 5 and these trainers will then train field personnel to gather information.
EC Additional Secretary also informed that the draft voter list will be published on January 2 and made available for public review.
During that time, citizens could raise objections if their names are missing or if there is any error. Later, resolving these objections, the final voter list will be released on March 2, 2025.
Besides, this year's campaign will collect data of those who will
turn 18 by January 1, 2026, ensuring their inclusion in the 2026 voter
list.
The last door-to-door voter list update was conducted in 2022, which included data for 2023, 2024, and 2025. This will mark the 24th update of the voter list, he added.
However, this step not taken in the past two years. He urged all citizens to cooperate with the voter registration process.
