The investigation committee, which has been formed to probe the fire incident at the Bangladesh Secretariat, will now submit its report on Tuesday.
Earlier, on Thursday, Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan said the high-profile probe committee formed by the government would submit its primary report within the next three days.
Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder on Monday said the committee will now submit its preliminary report to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at 5PM on Tuesday.
Home affairs ministry senior secretary Nasimul Gani headed the eight-member committee to investigate the fire incident.
Earlier, at 1.52AM on December 26, the fire broke out on four floors – six, seven, eight, and nine – of building no. 7. A total of 19 units of firefighters managed to fully douse the flames after nearly 10 hours.
The fire damaged the offices and documents of five ministries –– the local government, rural development and co-operatives ministry, the post and telecommunication ministry, the youth and sports ministry, the labour and employment ministry and the road transport and bridges ministry.
No casualties, however, were reported from the fire itself, but a fire fighter named Shoanur Jaman Nayan from Tejgaon fire station was crashed by a truck while participating in dousing the flame.
