FENI, Dec 30: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a Nigerian national from the border area in Parshuram Upazila of the district on Sunday.
He was arrested early in the morning from Nij Kalikapur area of the upazila.
The detained was identified as Gilbert Apih, a citizen of Nigeria.
According to the passport of the detained, he arrived at New Delhi Airport in India by plane from Nigeria on May 22. Later on, he illegally entered Bangladesh from India.
Feni BGB said that Gilbert Apih, a Nigerian citizen, was arrested from Purba Nij Kalikapur, approximately 300 yards inside Bangladesh, near border pillar 2158/MP under Parshuram Upazila. Various types of medicines, watches, mobile phones and clothing were seized from his possession.
Feni 4 BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain said that BGB members detained him when he crossed the border and entered Bangladesh. The process of handing over the detainee to Parashuram Police Station is underway.
