The fire that broke out on December 26 damaged at least 200 rooms in four floors of Secretariat's Building No. 7.
At least, 40 to 50 rooms on each of the floors were damaged seriously, some completely and some partially, according to the Public Works Department (PWD).
However, the rooms could be used after due renovation, PWD Deputy Assistant Engineer Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan told reporters on Monday.
Besides, the high-level committee formed to investigate the fire led by Home Ministry Senior Secretary Dr Nasimul Gani will submit its preliminary report to the Chief Adviser today.
The committee, scheduled to submit its initial report to the Chief Adviser on Sunday deferred report submission to finalise the report, Home Secretary Dr Nasimul Gani told reporters on Monday.
Amid this situation, the government on Monday transferred Tanvir Ahmed, the deputy commissioner (DC Secretariat) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and appointed a new DC three days after the fire incident.
