Motorcade of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement was attacked in Bagerhat on the way to Dhaka.
Brick chips were thrown at the vehicles and some were beaten. When the students protested the attack, the whole area turned into a battle field.
At least 20 people were injured in the hour-long clash, it was learnt.
Police and army personnel were deployed to control the situation.
Twenty-five buses, carrying students, were heading towards Dhaka from Khulna on around 11:30AM on Tuesday morning. When those reached Bagerhat's Mollahat Madrasa area, a group of unknown people started throwing brick bats to the vehicles. They also beat up several students.
The students alleged that police were inactive though the incident took place in front of the police station.
Mollahat Police Station OC Md Shafiqul Islam confirmed the clash incident.
Minhazul Abedin, a student leader, said the attacked was pre-planned.
