PHULBARI, KURIGRAM, Dec 31: Police arrested two Awami League (AL) leaders in connection with a case filed over an attack on students during the last Quota Reform Movement in Phulbari Upazila of the district on Monday evening.
The arrested are: Ayob Ali Zotdar, relief affairs secretary of the upazila AL, and its Member Sultan Ahmed, residents of Dhaniram Village in the upazila.
According to police, the duo went into hiding after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5. The police were informed that both had returned home.
On information, police detained them from their respective houses on Monday evening, said Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Phulbari Police Station.
The arrested were, later, sent to jail after being shown arrested in connection with a case filed over the attack on the students, the OC added.
