Drug addict son kills father in Jashore

JASHORE, Dec 31: A father was allegedly killed by his son following a dispute over drug abuse in Bagharpara Upazila of the district on Monday.

Deceased Ekhlas Molla, 45, was the son of Izahar Molla, a resident of Budhpur Village in the upazila. Ekhlas was fatally injured during an altercation with his son Tareq, and succumbed to his injuries at Jashore General Hospital on Monday night.

According to local sources, the argument escalated on Monday evening when Tareq struck his father on the head with a bamboo stick. Following the assault, Tareq fled the scene.

Family members rushed injured Ekhlas to the hospital but the attending doctors declared him dead after examinations. 

Dr Sweety Akter of the hospital's surgery department confirmed that Ekhlas died due to severe head trauma. 

Later on, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
