A total of 12 people were detained on different charges in separate drives in two districts - Narayanganj and Sirajganj.
NARAYANGANJ: Police arrested a man along with a firearm from Sadar Upazila in the district on Monday.
The arrested man is SM Fayaz Hasan Niloy, 31, hails from Keraniganj in Dhaka. He used to live in Jamtala area of Narayanganj.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatullah Model Police Station (PS) Shariful Islam said that acting on a tip-off, a team of the police conducted a drive in the upazila and arrested Niloy from a road under North Kashempur area of Fatullah.
He is accused of several cases with Keraniganj PS, the OC added.
SIRAJGANJ: Police arrested 11 members of an inter-district robbers' gang in the district.
The arrested men are: Jibon Parvez Reza, 47, Bachchu Mia, 47, Rabiul Karim, 45, Afzal Mia Ujjal, 40, Md Joy, 40, Suman Mia, 40, Md Sumon, 47, Shahadat Hossain, 55, Md Apel, 36, Shahidul Islam, 44, and Mostafa Kamal Joy, 47.
They were arrested from different parts of the country, according to Superintendent of Sirajganj Police Md Faruk Hossain.
During the drives, police seized a portion of Tk 28.55 lakh looted from a Dutch Bangla Bank, RAB uniforms, a walkie-talkie set, a pair of handcuffs, a toy pistol, a microbus, a motorcycle, and 17 mobile phones.
During interrogation, the arrestees confessed to their involvement in several robberies across the country.
