Chief Adviser (CA) to the interim government Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus will inaugurate the 29th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2025 on Wednesday at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal.
The month-long fair is set to begin at 10:00 am, Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin revealed this at a press conference held on the premises of the exhibition center on Tuesday.
Commerce Secretary Md Selim Uddin, Vice Chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Md. Anwar Hossain and Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Md. Abdur Rahim Khan were present at the press conference.
In presence of the Commerce Adviser, a MoU was signed between the EPB and Uber, an app-based service provider, to provide special concessions on passenger transport to and from the DITF venue.
Later, he inaugurated the e-ticketing apps for entry into the DITF-2025.
Like the previous years, the Ministry of Commerce and the EPB have jointly been organising the fair.
It was informed at the press conference that space for stalls/pavilions of various categories was allocated through online for the first time in this trade fair.
The e-ticketing system has also been arranged for the first time in the fair.
Apart from this, BRTC's dedicated bus service would be available alongsideUber service at a special discount to facilitate the travel of buyers and visitors to and from the fair venue.
Apart from this, "July Chattar" and "Chhatrish Chattar" were created at the fair venue in honor of the sacrifices of students in the anti-discrimination students' movement.
In addition, a Youth Pavilion has been set up to encourage the youthfolk of the country in export trade. Initiatives have also been taken this year to organize potential sector/product wise seminars at the fair.
There will be separate sourcing corners, electronics and furniture zones for the convenience of foreign entrepreneurs and participants.
Technology corner has been installed for the convenience of the age-based visitors while seating corner will be there for senior citizens. There is also a children's park in the fair for ensuring pure entertainment.
It was also informed at the press conference that the trade fair is going to be held for the fourth time in a row at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal.
According to the layout plan of the fair, some 361 pavilions/stalls/restaurants of different categories have been allocated in favor of local producing and exporters firms, general business establishments and foreign business entities in a cent percent transparent manner.
Besides, textiles, machineries, carpets, cosmetics and beauty aids, electrical and electronics, furniture, jute and jute products, household items, leather/artificial leather, leather products including shoes, sports goods, sanitary ware, toys, stationery, cookeries, plastics, melamine polymers, herbal, toiletries, imitation jewellery, processed food, fast food, handicrafts, home decor etc. will be displayed and thus sold at the fair.
Apart from Bangladesh, a total of 11 business entities from seven countries are participating in this year's fair.
Participating countries are India, Pakistan, Turkey, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
Apart from these, July Square on the south-east side of the exhibition center, cultural center, technology corner, recreation corner, children's park on the north-east (6 acres) side of the center and Chattrish Chattar on the north-west side and Namaz Ghar have already been set up.
Sufficient number of personnel from law enforcement agencies like police, Armed Police Battalion, RAB and intelligence agencies will be deployed on the fair premises to ensure overall security of the fair and the safety of the
visitors.
There will be regular patrols by the law enforcement agencies outside of the fair premises as well.
Considering security priority, a good number of CCTVs have been installed at various important places of the fair premises, entrance gate, parking area and all related areas. The issue of cleanliness has also been considered with
more importance in this fair.
Adequate number of separate toilets for men and women has been set up in the exhibition hall as well as outside the exhibition hall.
To control the quality of food products at the fair premises, a team, headed by an executive magistrate along with members of the law enforcement agencies, would conduct anti-adulteration mobile courts every day during the
fair.
Round-the-clock doctors and patient care attendants will remain present to provide free first aid and medical consultation to the visitors coming to the fair.
The fair will have adequate car parking facilities. Apart from the two-storied car parking building with more than 500 car parking facilities, parking arrangements have been kept on six acres of land outside the exhibition hall.
A control room has been set up in the fair to monitor the overall activities of the fair and an information center to provide all kinds of information to the visitors.
There will be a sufficient number of bank booths in the fair for conducting banking related services. There will also be a mother and child center at thefair side by side with comfortable and decorative chairs/benches for the
visitors.
Like before, the fair will remain open from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm throughout the month (until 10.00 pm on weekends).
