Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday said, "People of Bengladesh want to see justice for all the murders that have taken place during the Awami League period in the country."

He also called upon leaders and activists of Islami Chatra Shibir, the students wing of Jamat-e-Islami, to free the campuses of the universities from the extortion, ransack and terrorism as the education is the backbone of the nation.

The Jamaat chief came up with the comments while speaking as the chief guest at the central members' conference of Islami Chhatra Shibir held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.

He said, "Nation will never forget October 28, 2006. The fascist leader ordered their leaders and activists to kill people with logi-baitha. The people of Bengal want to see justice for all the murders that happened during the Awami League period."

Central conference of Islami Chhatra Shibir took place publicly after 14-year, where hundreds of central members across the country joined and the total area of the Suhrawardy Udyan decorated with placard and festooned.

Shafiqur said, "Since education is the backbone of the nation, today we have to take oath that we will free our educational institutions form terrorist and extortionists. We will not allow anyone to enter into the institutions with weapons."

He said, "Awami League government has destroyed the education institutions around the country. Today there is no research, no practical practice and no practice of morality in educational  institutions."

"From this conference, members from all over the country were nominated the central president and general secretary of the students' camp for the period of 2025-26.

Shafiqur said that the nation achieved Liberation in 1971. But the message of independence has been wailed. The result of freedom did not still does not achieved.

He said, "A group hijacked the result of liberation and deprives people of the country. Its burning proof is that, the Prime Minister of the neighboring country, congratulating Indian soldiers-generals on December-16 and, said it was India's Victory."

"Those who talk about the spirit of freedom now they are silent," he said.

In the programme Zahidul Islam and Nurul Islam Saddam were announced president and secretary general of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir respectively.

They have been elected through the online votes of members across the country for 2025 session. The members cast their votes through online from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on December 29 last.

Hundreds of leaders and workers of Islami Chhatra Shibir thronged the conference from the early morning.

Members across the country joined the conference which began at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital. The members were very happy as they were holding the conference after a long time.
