2 children suffer burn wounds from sky lanterns, firecrackers on new year eve

Two children sustained burn injuries on sky lanterns and firecrackers while those were releasing to celebrate new year.

One of the victim children Farhan, 8, was admitted to National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Tuesday night with 15 per cent of burns, while another child left the hospital after receiving treatment, said the hospital resident docotr Shawon Bin Rahman.

But details of the incident could not be known, he added.
Their families claimed that they were burned after bursting firecrackers in the streets to welcome the new year.

Dhaka residents enjoyed new year with the huge use of  firecrackers and sky lanterns.

It was learnt, a incident of fire occurred at Dhanmondi.
