KAMALGANJ, MOULVIBAZAR, Jan 1: Kamalganj Upazila administration in the district reclaimed 7.80 acres of government land, valued at approximately Tk 1 crore, from long-term occupants.
The operation took place at Konagaon Mouza in Adampur Union of the upazila on Tuesday.
It was known that the land had been under the control of beneficiaries of the Forest Department, who had been utilising the area by planting trees.
With the cooperation of the Forest Department, Assistant Commissioner (AC) (Land) DM Sadiq Al Shafin led the day-long operation to recover the land.
Following the reclamation, government signboards were installed to mark the property.
"We have successfully reclaimed about Tk 1 crore worth of khas land that had been occupied by Forest Department beneficiaries for years," said AC Land DM Sadiq Al Shafin, "With the help of Forest Department officials, we have taken measures to secure the land by erecting government signboards."
