BHALUKA, MYMENSINGH, Jan 1: Police arrested two extortionists from Bhaluka Upazila in the district on Tuesday.
The arrested individuals are: Simanta, 30, son of Ilias, a resident of Nawmahal area in Mymensingh Sadar Upazila, and Shakib Hasan Rasel, 25, hails from Kushtia District.
They were arrested from Medila Mor area in the upazila.
According to police sources, a group of extortionists stopped a car at around 3 am on Tuesday and attacked its driver with a knife.
Later on, police were informed via a phone call to 999. Following this, police conducted several drives and recovered the car from the Medila Mor area at around 5:30 am. At that time, police arrested the duo from the car.
Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Police Station Humayon Kabir confirmed the matter.
