NAGESHWARI, KURIGRAM, Jan 1: The body of a 7-month-old infant, who went missing from her residence in Nageshwari Upazila of the district about 24 hours back, was recovered from a septic tank behind the house on Tuesday.

Police, however, detained two individuals for questioning in connection with the incident.

The incident took place in Chakirkuti Byapari Teri Village under Nowashi Union of the upazila.

Deceased Adiba was the daughter of Aminul Islam of the area.

According to the deceased's family, Adiba was asleep in her room on Monday afternoon while her mother Ferdousi Akhter Khushi took her elder daughter to bathe at a nearby tube-well.

Adiba's cries prompted her mother to rush back to the house, but found the baby missing from bed. Despite extensive searches by the family members, neighbours and police personnel, the child could not be found that day.

On Tuesday, police discovered Adiba's body in the septic tank behind the house, more than 24 hours after she disappeared.
Adiba's grieving parents Aminul Islam and Ferdousi Akhter Khushi remain inconsolable. Overcome with emotion, they demand that those responsible be held accountable.

Officer-in-Charge of Nageshwari Police Station Mizanur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that police detained the child's grandfather Mohammad Ali and grandmother Amena Begum, for questioning.
