A policeman, who was injured after being hit by a passenger bus at Kakrail intersection in the capital, died while undergoing treatment on Thursday.
The dead was Ariful Isalm, 42, hailed from Baniapara village under Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia district. He worked as a police constable at Nawabganj Police Station in Dhaka district.
The accident occurred at Kakrail intersection around 2:30 pm on Wednesday (January 1). His relatives admitted him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). He later died around 4 am Thursday while undergoing treatment.
DMCH Hospital Police Camp In-charge (Inspector) Md Faruk confirmed it on Thursday (January 2).
He said that he was admitted to the hospital after being hit by a bus in Kakrail. He later died while undergoing treatment in the hospital's ICU. The body has been kept in the morgue for autopsy.
Earlier, on Wednesday, he came to Dhaka from Nawabganj for treatment at Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital. He was seriously injured while he was getting off from 'Manzil Paribahan' and ran over by the bus at Kakrail. Pedestrians took him to Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital. Later, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from there.
