Man sentenced to death for killing pregnant wife in Jamalpur

A court on Thursday in Jamalpur sentenced a man to death for killing his pregnant wife over dowry. 

The court also fined him Tk 50,000.
Jamalpur Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 Judge Muhammad Rafiqul Islam passed the order in the afternoon.

The condemned convict was Ujjwal Mahmud.

The court Public Prosecutor Fazlul Haque said that after the marriage of the convict in February 2023, Ujjwal Mahmud had been torturing his wife Tahmina Jannat in various ways to demand dowry. During Eid-ul-Fitr, he beat her up for Tk five lakh of dowry and then killed her.
