Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus on Thursday urged all to come forward at the individual level, rather than being 100 dependent on the government to help move the country forward towards its desired goals.

"The power of people is stronger than that of the government," he said while inaugurating the Walkathon and Social Service Conference organised by the Department of Social Services on the occasion of National Social Service Day-2025.

The Chief Adviser said social service is the responsibility of every person and the job of the ministry is to remind all so that no one forgets this responsibility and does not move away from it. "I hope this call will reach everyone."
Dr Yunus said that every person has a tendency to work for the benefit of others and that desire should be awakened.

There is more joy in working for the welfare of others than doing something for oneself, he said speaking at the conference at Manik Mia Avenue adjacent to the National Parliament.

He called for developing the habit of working for the greater public good in daily life.
