A man was reportedly beaten to death in the Dwipnagar area of Gabtoli in Dhaka over a land feud.

The man was identified as Mukul Sheikh, hailed from Shenachapri village in Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur.

Mukul and his brother Rabbani Sheikh began their work as labourers in Gabtoli a month ago. Their family lives in the village.
Rabbani said they had a feud over land with the neighbours of their village home for a long time.

Over the issue, a group of 15-20 people obstructed their way around 8PM at Dwipnagar and reportedly beat them with hammers and iron pipes, leaving Mukul critically injured.

Mukul was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) with the help of the locals at around 10:30pm on Wednesday where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Inspector Md Faruk of the DMCH Police Outpost said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
