A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban Nurjahan Begum, wife of former Samabaya Bank chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain passed the order on Thursday allowing a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) assistant director Md Monirul Islam.
Meanwhile, a court earlier has also imposed travel ban on Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi.
ACC official Monirul Islam said that the anti-graft body is investigating allegations against Nurjahan Begum of concealing information about wealth of Tk 14.70 lakh and amassing illegal wealth of Tk 1.19 crore, among others. He said as the investigation going on, the accused could take attempt to flee the country.
Earlier, on October 16, ACC filed separate cases against Mohi and his wife. Mohi is accused of amassing illegal wealth of Tk 2.70 crore and allegedly involved in the disappearance of over 13,000 bhori of gold deposited with the state-run bank.
