PHULBARI, KURIGRAM, Jan 2: Severe cold has crippled normal life in Phulbari Upazila of the district, throwing day-earning people into difficult conditions.
Cold and fog are prevailing in the upazila halting usual public activities.
Income of the daily wage earners such as van-puller decreases, which is affecting their families.
Destitute and low-income people are suffering from the biting cold due to want of warm clothes.
At present, amid biting cold day-earners are going to works and affected by cold diseases.
According to hospital sources, cold patients are increasing. People along river banks are feeling the most.
Along with their living hardahip, they are also becoming victims of different cold diseases.
Abul Kalam of Chargorakmandal area at Nawdanga Union said, "We are in great trouble. Can't do work at time. I couldn't go out for two days amid cold. At night cold bites us strongly. If we the poor people get 2-1 blankets, it will be a big help."
Acting Officer of Rajarhat Weather Office Subol Chandra Sarkar confirmed temperature ranging at 12-16 degree Celsius in the last 15 days.
