NARAYANGANJ, Jan 2: A young man was killed and five others were injured in a clash between two groups over a thirty-first night concert in the city on Tuesday night.
The incident occurred near Pagla Boubazar Railway Station of Kutubpur in Fatullah.
The deceased was identified as Hridoy, 20, son of Habir Mia, a resident of Pagla Bou Bazar area.
The deceased's friend Sabbir said that they were celebrating thirty-first night with some friends at night. At that time, due to previous enmity, 7 to 8 youths from the same area came and beat them up, and at one point, hacked them with sharp weapons.
Later on, when they were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment, the on-duty doctors declared Hridoy dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the DMCH morgue for an autopsy.
Of the injured, Sunny, 20, Apon, 21, and Rabbi, 25, are currently undergoing treatment at the DMCH.
Immediately after the incident, RAB-11 and Fatullah police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. However, no one has been arrested in this regard so far.
Officer-in-Charge of Fatula Model Police Station Md Shariful Islam confirmed the matter, adding that efforts are going on to arrest those involved in the incident.
