Four killed in road crashes on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

At least four people were killed and 20 others were injured in separate road accident on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Munshiganj due to thick fog.

The accident took place on Thursday night and early Friday.

Abdur Rahman, sub-inspector of Hasara Highway Police Station, said a Dhaka-bound bus and a truck collided on the expressway at around 5AM on Friday, leaving two dead on the spot.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and 10 more people were injured when Mawa-bound bus of Abdullah Paribahan hit the covered van from behind in Nimtoli area on the expressway around at around 11.30PM on Thursday.

The deceased were Md Raihan, 27,  resident of Sirajdikhan upazila, and Jhelper of the Abdullah Paribahan Jibon Sheikh,44, a resident of Sreenagar upazila.

SI Abdur Rahman said all the victims were the passengers of the bus, said police.

Abdul Kader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Hasara Highway police said police seized the covered van but the driver fled the area. The body of the deceased have been kept at Shreenagar Upazila Health Complex.

On December 27, six people from two families, including women and children, were killed and four were seriously injured when a bus rammed into their vehicles at Dhaleshwari toll plaza on the same expressway.
