Earthquake jolts Dhaka, Sylhet, no casualties reported

An earthquake, measuring 5 magnitude on the Richter Scale, jolted Dhaka, Sylhet and various parts of the country at 10:32 AM on Friday morning (January 3).

According to the Sylhet weather office, the epicenter was located 482 kilometres from Dhaka in Myanmar, affecting areas in the northeastern region, including Sylhet and its surroundings.
 
The tremor lasted a few seconds, prompting many people to leave their homes and business establishments and rush to the streets. However, no immediate report of casualties or damage was reported.
Earlier a mild earthquake jolted Sylhet on June 2, 2024.
