The Inter-Cadre Discrimination Elimination Council on Friday claimed that due to administrative irregularities and mismanagement relevant cadre officers were not posted in the top posts of 25 cadres.

They hoped that the public administration reform commission will find out the actual reasons of the irregularities and try to resolve the problem through its report to be placed to the Chief Adviser soon.

They urged at a discussion titled, 'Steps to build a people friendly civil service: Perspective Bangladesh' organised by the Council at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium at Farmgate in Dhaka.

Convener of the discussion organising committee Arif Hossain presided over the meeting while coordinators Farhana Akter and Dr Mohammad Shahadat Hossain moderated.

Among others, Council Coordinator Dr Muhammad Mofizur Rahman, central leaders and president and general secretaries of the associations of 25 cadres also spoke.

The speakers said the officers of 25 cadres under this council want to cooperate with the government to establish a vibrant administration through eliminating all irregularities, quota discriminations and imbalances. This organisation is committed to build a merit-based administration eliminating all quota discrimination upholding the spirit of this government established through the anti-discrimination movement.

They demand batch-wise promotion, determination of status and ensuring equity in the service.
It cannot be accepted that some cadre officers will get promotion even after not having any vacancy while others would not despite lots of vacancies, they stated.

They also urged the government to refrain from excluding the health and education cadre from the Bangladesh Civil Service.
They also urged the government and others to stay alert, so that no one can create anarchy or instability in the country and destabilise the government.

In the meeting, the leaders of the council announced holding of view exchange meetings in different offices, universities and colleges for the next one month and refraining of any large programme.
