The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) and Jatiya Nagorik Committee have jointly announced a six-day programme ahead of their demand of 'July Mass Uprising Proclamation' by the interim government.
Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the ADSM, announced the programme at a press conference held at the organization's central office at Bangla Motor in the capital on Saturday (January 4).
He said keeping the 'July Mass Uprising Proclamation' ahead, The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement (ADSM) and Jatiya Nagorik Committee will distribute leaflets, hold rallies and mass contacts across the country from January 6 to January 11 to raise awareness about the July Mass Uprising Proclamation.
"We demanded to announce 'July Mass Uprising Proclamation' by January 15 at 'March For Justice' programme held on Shaheed Minar premises on December 31. A statement has been issued on behalf of the interim government in this regard. As every person in the country participated in the uprising, we believe that the proclamation will reflect the hopes and aspirations of the people," he added.
Hasnat Abdullah also alleged that the interim government's steps were not visible to seek the opinions of political parties and individuals regarding the proclamation. "If the government takes effective measures, we are ready to extend necessary cooperation to the government in this regard."
Jatiya Nagorik Committee convener Nasir Uddin Patwari said the government's activities are not visible yet to formulate the July Mass Uprising Proclamation. "If the government doesn't take necessary steps in this regard immediately, strict programmes will be announced soon."
Nasir Uddin also mentioned that all the political parties have already made positive responses to formulate the proclamation.
