Dengue: First death reported this year

The first dengue death on the year was reported in the country in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The death was reported in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

The DGHS data said 56 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever during this period, bringing the total number of cases to 221.

Of the new cases, 9 dengue patients were in DNCC while 12 were in Dhaka South City Corporation. Currently, 436 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
