Former president of banned Chhatra League of Bijoy Ekattor Hall of Dhaka University will be interrogated at jail gate in connection with an attempt to murder case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Ishrat Jenifar Jerin passed the order on Thursday.
Police produced Sajibur Rahman Sajib, former president of banned Chhatra League, before the court with a prayer for 10-day remand. Meanwhile, his lawyer prayed for granting bail and opposed the remand prayer.
After hearing both the sides, the court rejecting the bail petition and remand prayer, ordered the police to interrogate him at the jail gate.
Early Saturday, police arrested Sajib from Zafrabad area under Hajaribagh Thana in a case filed with Shahbagh police station. Sajib is the accused number 14 of a case filed on charge of attack on the supporters of anti-discrimination students’ movement on Dhaka University campus on July 15.
Abu Sayad Bin Mahin Sarkar, a resident student of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, filed the case on October 21 against 391 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
The complainant alleged that the leaders and activists of recently banned Chhatra League, and Awami League and its associate organizations under the direction of party chief Sheikh Hasina and its general secretary Obaidul Quader attacked on the general students with local and foreign arms wearing helmets.
Many students were injured during the incident.
