Child dies after falling into stove of boiling paddy in Jessore

A minor child after accidentally falling into the fire of a paddy-boiling stove at Monirampur Upazila in Jessore district on Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened at Dodaria village under Jhapa union in the upazila. 

The deceased was identified as Rajan, 4, son of Milan Hossain, a resident of the area. 

Rajan’s mother, Parveen Akhtar, said, "Today, in the afternoon, while we were boiling paddy in a large stove in the yard, Rajan was playing near the stove. Suddenly, due to carelessness, Rajan fell into the stove. His body was severely burned."

Family members rescued him and took him to Jessore General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Jashore Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the matter.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for an autopsy, the OC added.
