Nasir Uddin Patwary and Akhter Hossain were made convener and member secretary respectively of the 55-member Jatiya Nagorik Committee on Saturday.

Samanta Sharmin was made the spokesperson of the committee, while the remaining 52 persons were made members of the committee.
On Saturday, a press statement was issued regarding the formation of the Jatiya Nagorik Committee.

The statement said Sheikh Hasina-led government was toppled with the sacrifices of hundreds of martyrs and thousands of injured.

On behalf of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement, Nasir announced the formation of the 55-member Jatiya Nagorik Committee at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital around 5:30pm.

They said the Jatiya Nagorik Committee will work to eradicate the established fascist political system. The committee will work as pressure group in this regard.

Bearing the July mass uprising declaration in mind, student-led platforms, Students Against Discrimination (SAD) and Jatiya Nagorik Committee, will run a nationwide outreach campaign from January 6 to11 to listen to the hopes and aspirations of the people.

SAD convener Hasnat Abdullah announced the campaign at a press conference at the organisation's central office in Dhaka's Bangla Motor.

"We will distribute leaflets, hold rallies and conduct public relation drives at various levels. Because we want to see the reflection of the hopes and aspirations of the people in the proclamation of revolution," he said.

Acknowledging that the interim government is yet to take any initiative regarding the declaration, Hasnat said, "There will be a call for the interim government to be proactive on this important national issue. We are ready to express our opinion if the government takes practical initiatives in this regard."
