Miscreants set fire to BNP office at Bauphal in Patuakhali late at night on Sunday.
All the furniture in the office was burnt. However, locals were able to put out the fire.
The incident took place around 2:30 am at the office of BNP and its affiliated organizations in front of Howladar's house on the west side of Chandrapara Bazar, Ward No-9 of Madanpura union of the upazila.
It was known that 20 days ago, a BNP office was set up at Chandrapara Bazar. The office was inaugurated by Madanpura Union BNP President Kabir Hossain. The office became bustling overnight. Party leaders and activists have been carrying out party activities with general public. At around 2:30 am, miscreants set fire to the office and fled. The office along with the furniture inside was burnt down. At that time, people from the surrounding area came and put out the fire.
Madanpura Union BNP President Kabir Khan alleged that people from the opposition party may be involved in this incident. We demand that those involved be identified and punished, he added.
In this regard, Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamal Hossain said they have not received written complaint yet. Legal action will be taken if they receive complaint.
