A court in Sirajganj sentenced four individuals to death and eight others to life-term imprisonment for killing two people in Sirajganj.
Sirajganj Additional District and Sessions Court-3 Judge Mahbubur Rahman passed the verdict on Sunday (January 5).
The court also fined four death row convicts Tk 50,000 each, in defult, they have to suffer three more month in jail. Additionally, the convicts who got life-term were fined Tk 25,000 each, in default, they have to serve three more months in jail.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Hamidul Islam Dulal has acknowledged the matter.
The death row convicts are –Hasanur Hasu, a resident of Chok Pangashi village in Ullapara upazila, Kawser Ali, Moazzem Hossain Rintu, and Zahidul Islam Zalim of the same area.
The life-term convicts are – Ashraf, 50, Motaleb, 40, Rezaul, 32, Dulal, 35, Monirul, 30, Saddam, 28, Billa, 50, and Awal, 30.
According to the prosecution story, Saiful Islam of Chakpangashi village in Ullapara upazila and his neighbor Abul Kalam had dispute over different issues.
Over the issue, on January 21, 2017, the convicts, led by Hasanur Rahman Hashu, attacted the house of Saiful with lethal weapons.
They stabbed Saiful, his brother Sona Mia, Abul Kalam and Makbul indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving them criticallly injured. Among them, Saiful and Makbul succumbed to their injuries at a hospital in Dhaka.
The accused also vandalised the house of Saiful.
Later, a case was filed in this connection.
