Three people were sentenced to death in a case filed over murder of European University of Bangladesh student Ismail Hossain Jisan on May 12, 2019.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court -5 Judge Farjana Yasmin pronounced the judgment in presence of the two convicts.
The death row convicts are -- Hasibul Hossain alias Hasib and Abdullah Al Noman. Meanwhile, another convict Shrabon alias Shaon is still at large and the court also issued arrest warrant against him.
Besides, the court also acquitted one Sajani Akter as the charges brought against her were not proved by the prosecution.
According to the case documents, on May 12, 2019, Jisan, a student of Civil Engineering Department of the university, used to work as a Pathao rider apart from his study.
His father Sabbir Hossain Sahid filed a general diary with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station as Jisan went missing from Shyamoli in the capital.
On May 23, 2019, police recovered the half decomposed body of Jisan from the septic tank of the house of Hasibul Hossain in Moddho Kamar Juri under Gacha Police Station in Gazipur.
Later, Jisan's father filed the case on that day with the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
On January 12, 2020, police filed charge sheet against four and the court on March 30, 2022, framed charges in the case and initiated the trial officially.
