The government has canceled a gazette allowing 50 judicial officials to take part in training courses in National Judicial Academy, Bhopal, and a state judicial academy in India.
This decision was disclosed in a circular issued by the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs on Sunday.
The trainee judges included Assistant Judges, Senior Assistant Judges, Joint District and Sessions Judges, Additional District and Sessions Judges, District and Sessions Judges, and other equivalent-level officers.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in accordance with the recommendations by the Supreme Court recently in a gazette notification gave the permission to the judicial officials to go to India, official sources said.
Judicial officials were supposed to take part in the training courses from February 10-20, 2025.
Training wing-1 of the Law and Justice Division on Sunday issued a notification, saying the gazette has been canceled as per the direction of Bangladesh Supreme Court.
The cancelled programme was part of a bilateral understanding signed in April 2017 during then-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to India.
All the expenses for the training were to be borne by the Indian government, with no financial involvement from the government of Bangladesh.
