Former Fisheries and Livestock minister Abdul Latif Biswas has been detained by joint forces in Sirajganj.

He was detained from his house at Kamarpara under Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj district at about 3:00pm on Sunday. Then he was taken to the army camp in the Sadar upazila of the district. It was learnt that he was being questioned there. However, it could not be known in which case he was arrested.
Abdul Latif Biswas was elected member of parliament (MP) twice from Sirajganj-5 constituency (Belkuchi-Chouhali) on the ousted Awami League's ticket. However, he did not get nominations from the party in the 9th and 10th Jatiya Sangsad election. In spite of it, he was politically active. He was a former chairman of the Sirajganj District Council and former president of the District Awami League.
