Man held over killing of students in Ashulia

Police arrested a suspect in several cases, including the killing of students during July uprising, from Ashulia in Savar upazila on Saturday night. 

The arrested man is Maruf Bhuya, a resident of Zamgar Bhuya Para under Ashulia Police Station in the upazila.

Maruf was brought to court on Sunday morning with a five-day remand appeal. 

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a raid and arrested him from at his house, said Al-Amir Miazi, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station. 

He said, "Maruf was initially arrested in a case filed over cutting off the hand of Shipul Bhuya. Later, it was discovered that the he is also accused in a murder case involving the students. He was sent to court on Sunday morning with a five-day remand appeal."
