DINAJPUR, Jan 5: A patient reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the building of the Dinajpur Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Dibakar, 48, a resident of Sujalpur Master Para under Birganj Upazila in the district.
Police sources said that Dibakar had been suffering from mental illness for the past few days.
He was admitted to Pirganj Upazila Health Complex after suffering a brain stroke on January 2 last.
From there, he was transferred to the medicine department of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital. He died on the spot after jumping from the medicine ward building at around 3:30 pm on Saturday.
Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family without an autopsy as no complaint was lodged from them.
Officer-in-Charge of Dinajpur Kotwali Police Station Matiur Rahman confirmed the incident.
