Police arrested seven people, including a union member, from several places in Dhaka's Savar upazila on Saturday night in a case filed over the killing of students during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
The arrested men are Mehedi Hasan Modin, 50, union parishad member of 6 No Ward and local Juba League leader; Md Shamim Khan, 41; Md Saminur Rahman, 41: Md Shahin, 40; Md Razu Hasan, 35; and Md Hasanuzzaman, 36.
Earlier, police arrested them from the Rajfulbaria and Bangau areas under Tetujhora union in the upazila.
During the raids, police recovered some lethal weapons and foreign liquor from their possession.
Badol, sub-inspector of Savar Model Police Station, said, "Mehedi Hasan Modi was arrested in a case filed over student murder. Besides him, the other six people were arrested along with the weapons from a house in Rajfulbaria Bhorari area in the upazila. The arrestees were sent to court on Sunday morning with a seven-day remand appeal."
