Police recovered the body of a woman from her home at Kanaighat upazila in Sylhet district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Fatima Begum alias Phoolan, 22, wife of Faisal Ahmed, a resident of Bayampur Lakshmipur village in the Kanaighat municipality.

The family members of her father-in-law's house fled from the scene including her husband.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Morgue for  an autopsy, said Durga Kumar Dev, sub-inspector of Kanaighat Police Station.

However, relatives of the deceased are disputing the suicide claim, alleging that Fatima was murdered by her husband and in-laws.

The reason behind the death would be known after autopsy report, the police official added.
